    • Why Windows "9" was skipped ?

    Internal leaks from some one who claims to be a developer in Microsoft that  early testing revealed just how many third party products that had code of the form

     

    f(version.StartsWith("Windows 9"))

    { /* 95 and 98 */

    } else {

     

    and that this was the practical solution to avoid that.

     

    If this is true, the 10 version of windows release does make sense
