How to create an Exchange account with your iPad / iPhone / iPod Touch
Before you create any Exchange account.
To get the best possible results update your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch to the latest OS software version. Only one Exchange account can be configured on each device. And read first the Synchronization Options section bellow before configuring any Exchange account on your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.
To add an Exchange account:
Step 1. In your device, go to Settings / Mail, Contacts, Calendars / Add Account / Microsoft Exchange.
Step 2. Enter your account information: Email address. Leave Domain in blank (this is the general rule), username and your password.
Step 3. Your iPhone (or iPod touch) will now try to locate the Exchange server with the Microsoft's Autodiscovery service.
But, If the server cannot be located enter your server name in the Server field.
Step 4. Choose the options you would like to sync: Mail, Contacts, and Calendars. Read the "Synchronization Options" description and recommendations bellow.
Because your Exchange account might contain sensitive information it is recommended setting a passcode lock on your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch.
Synchronization Options
(It is important to understand this information before configuring any Exchange account on your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch).
Recommended for all Exchange users, It synchronize your Exchange email and allows you to send and receive Exchange emails. Use this option to receive Exchange meeting invitations.
Contacts
(Only use this feature to sync your Exchange contact list IF you use MS Outlook or Entourage to manage phone numbers for friends, family, etc).
Contacts synchronize and access your Exchange contact list. Syncing Contacts with Exchange will remove all contacts currently on your iDevice replacing them with your Exchange contact list. Any new contact you create on your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch is synced with Exchange and then is available in Outlook and Entourage. This also allows you to search the Global Access List (GAL).
Calendars
Recommended for all Exchange users, select Calendars to synchronize your Exchange calendar. This feature allows you to view your calendar and create appointments and meetings. Be aware when you allow to sync Calendars with Exchange as this will Removeall current calendar events on your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch and replace them with yourExchange calendar events.
To Sync more than 3 days of email
By default, only the last 3 days of email is synchronized. To synchronize more days, go intoSettings / Mail, Contacts, Calendars, select your Exchange account and choose the Mail days to sync option you want. Select No Limit, If you want to retrieve all the emails in your Exchange mailbox.
To Sync calendar events that are more than one month old
Go to Settings / Mail, Contacts, Calendars, select your Exchange account. Under Calendar choose Sync. Then, select how far back you would like to synchronize calendar events. Select the "All Events" option to retrieve all calendar events on your Exchange calendar.
